vii. short description a female silver maine coon with piercing yellow eyes
viii. appearance
not your average size, adderstar is a lithe, mean, hunting machine. with large front paws equipped for trapping, and sharp teeth for killing, this she-cat has all of the features required to keep her clan fed. although her frame is rather bulky for a female, she uses this bulk to her advantage in battle- especially considering the load of her muscles are in her shoulders. being a maine coon however, her fluffed out fur gives her even more of an advantage of intimidation during battle. sometimes it can lay slightly chaotic- with a cowlick here and there, but for the most part, she keeps it tame. when it's not all crazy and wild, her pelt is actually a very alluring shade of grey, mixed with white stripes and marble swirls of dark grey. there's a slight brown tone to the fur that covers her ears, but one wouldn't be able to notice at first glance. in fact, the first thing any cat notices about her besides her size are her eyes- which lay a piercing, bright yellow. in fact, she's even famous for them- a phrase around the forest going, "if you're close enough to see the silver flecks in them, you're close enough for her to kill."
ix. personality
though she may look mean from a distance, she's not- well, no, she is kinda mean. maybe not mean as much as strict and forceful. some say she has a certain air of power about her, something that makes every cat stop and listen to her. others who actually know her might laugh at that- deep down they know she's a cat with a heart of gold. she just puts out a mean, strict demeanor because she knows she has to. because of her past, not all forest cats have accepted her and give her the respect she's earned, so she has to act tough. she can be intimidating though, with a piercing gaze that can seemingly last forever.
although most of her free time consists of leader duties such as working out mentors and apprentices, clan politics and more, she does enjoy taking a break and patrolling with her clan. she believes she's not any more special than the youngest apprentice when it comes to getting special treatment, so she tries to earn her keep as much as possible. though some of her clanmates might disagree, she also takes place in every battle and diplomatic mission, if only to put herself in the line of fire first and protect her clanmates. her goal is to one day let every cat know that despite her heritage, she would lay her life down for her clan, and that she is one of the most loyal cats to the warrior code the forest has ever seen.
x. history
what's a kit without their mother? well unfortunately, adderstar had to find that out. when she was only two moons old, her mother passed away due to greencough. complications in the pregnancy led to a late birthing, and the leaf-bare that followed was nearly unbearable. their dad, as harsh as he was, did as best he could to protect adderstar and her sister, petal. her father grew up as a rogue in the forest, and he spent most of the younger part of his life watching the clan cats train from afar- learning their regiments. as a result, he strove to teach adderstar- then named lily, and petal how to defend themselves and catch prey.
though he had started their training early on in their kithood, they were mostly ready by the time most clan cats are middle-aged apprentices. around eight moons old, lily and petal left quietly in the early light of dawn to explore some of the forest territory their father had forbidden them from doing. unknowingly, they wanted to explore esperclan territory- the snake bed as the clan cats call it- but to them, it was just another place. as they made their way, they dodged two patrols, though just by a hair. adrenaline rushing though her, petal ignored her sisters warnings and jumped onto the rocks- only to be struck by an adder less than a moment after. she was knocked off her paws, hitting the ground like dead weight. lily rushed over to her, but she knew it was too late. quickly, she dragged her body away from the rocks, unsure of what to do.
that night, she hid her sisters body in some foliage, and ran home to tell her father, who ultimately blamed her for the mistake. he orders her to show him where she hid her sisters body, and her father held a proper burial- though he denied lily the right to watch or participate. in fact, he chased her out, ordered her to get out of his sight. he had always been harsh on her, and he always loved her- she knew that- but this time it had been too much, and he disowned her.
what was she supposed to do then? as she was sulking on her way back to where they used to live, she ran into a timbreclan patrol. they threatened to attack her, and a feisty apprentice nearly took her ear off. but one of the senior members must have seen something in her, must have seen her hardships, because he offered her a chance to come back to camp and ask their leader to join them. of course, naturally, the clan was outraged. how could a rogue join the clans? the others would surely laugh at them! but for some odd reason, their leader took her in anyway, and gave her the chance to name herself. 'adderpaw' she said, in remembrance of her sister. from then on, she swears to kill as many adders as she can, though she knows it will never bring her sister back.
